About Covenant House
Covenant House is the largest privately-funded agency in the Americas that provides food, shelter, immediate crisis care, and an array of other important services to homeless, abandoned, abused, trafficked, and exploited youth. There are 31 Covenant House locations across the United States, Canada and Latin America – and together we reach nearly 80,000 young people each year, giving youth the love and support they need to find their way off of the streets.

In New Jersey, we provide 213 beds each night, and services to more than 2,000 youth between the ages of 18 and 21 in 7 cities each year. Our Outreach staff, by foot and in vans, search areas of the state known to be havens for homeless, runaway and trafficked young people. These young people when they come to our Crisis Centers in Newark or Atlantic City they are offered medical, legal, educational, vocational, counseling and many other services such as basic care. We reassure youth that if they are courageous enough to take that first step of walking through our doors, we will not turn them away.

About Covenant House Asbury Park
In March of 2012, Covenant House New Jersey began offering Outreach Services to homeless and at-risk youth in Monmouth County. We reach out to young people who are suffering on the street. We start with a van, some sandwiches, water, blankets, and unconditional love. Our outreach workers go out into the community making relationships with young people in crisis and offer them guidance, support and shelter if needed. Our Outreach Center is located right in the heart of Asbury Park.

After 5 years of operating as a drop-in center out of Asbury Park we are excited to announce that this past January we hosted the grand opening of our NEW Rights of Passage home! The Rights of Passage building allows 5 local homeless youth the opportunity to stay close to home instead of being sent to shelters in Atlantic City or Newark. It is located on Prospect Avenue and it offers men ages 18-22 a temporary home as they transition out of homelessness. This beautiful home features 5 bedrooms, a communal living room, kitchen, secured storage, and bicycle racks. This project was done in collaboration with our friends at Interfaith Neighbors in Asbury Park. We are already at work raising funds to build a second Rights of Passage right next door for five young women, scheduled to open in 2020.
